The government of Shaanxi province and Chinese Academy of Sciences celebrated the news release conference in the Great Hall of the People on August 24th, 2006 and announced the the first 10kta DMTO industrial experiment was accomplished in Shanxi Province. The experiment was collaborated by DICP, LPEC and Shaanxi New Coal Chemical Science & Technology Development Co., Ltd. (Xinxing), and achieved national appraisal.  
 
In April 2004, the government of Shaanxi province set up Shaanxi New Coal Chemical Science & Technology Development Co., Ltd. to carry on the DMTO industrial experiment cooperated with DICP and LPEC. In end of 2005, the construction of the industrial experiment plant was finished and accomplished the experiments in 2006.
 
This experiment built up the technical foundation of the scale-up from 10kta to million-tons per year. It was estimated that ethylene and propylene produced from DMTO was more competitive than that from oil. China Shenhua group, China national coal group, Dow chemical and Hongkong Kingboard Chemical Holding Ltd. had greatly interested on DMTO technology. It had showed the expansive market foreground of DMTO technology.
